This is not a prank! Readin’ N Rhythm is actually hosting an April Fools Matinee from 2-6pm at Bar Matchless in Greenpoint. This event features the latest contest winners from Serving House Books, poet P.K. Harmon and novelist Barbara Froman, along with the more intimate, acoustic side of some of our favorite local musicians: angelic rocker Billy Gray (of Ben Franklin fame), dancey yet deep folk duo Berth Control, and the wonderfully weird and engaging singer/autoharp-ist Cory McAbee (from The Billy Nayer Show, pictured left). RnR’s house band The Brooklyn Players Reading Society will kick off the event and our lovely emcee Jen Werner will keep you entertained with her interludes and introductions. Beautiful oil paintings by local artist/jazz musician Galen Pittman will also be hangin’ around!
While we aren’t charging a formal cover, we do have a $5 suggested donation. And don’t forget, all Readin’ N Rhythm events serve as book drives for local organization ReadThis so please bring those dusty paperbacks along with you!
For those of you who love bloody mary’s and bacon, Matchless serves a killer brunch from 11am – 4pm. Let’s eat, drink, read and sing our way through a sweet and silly Sunday afternoon. RSVP at our Facebook Event page. See ya there!
HUGE THANKS to our amazing sponsors The Literary Review, Fairleigh Dickinson University’s international literary magazine, and Serving House Books. Bring some extra bucks along with you to purchase your own copy of Froman and Harmon’s novels along with TLR’s most recent edition, Lives of the Saints. Check out TLR’s website for clips and more info, and don’t forget to sign up for “Read More,” their monthly mailing list that brings cutting-edge literature straight to your inbox.
